The British Council Penang is looking for enthusiastic and experienced teachers of English to join our teaching team. This post starts in Mid October 2010 and slightly later start dates are negotiable. The Teaching Centre is located in a heritage building in a key location in Georgetown, the capital of Penang. The centre runs courses for young learners between the ages of 6 and 12 years, teenagers, 13-17 years and adults. We also teach IELTS Preparation Courses and have a small but developing Professional Development Unit. We teach around 1200 students a term who come from Penang and nearby states on mainland Malaysia. As a member of this professional teaching team, you will strive to provide quality language teaching to adults and young learners at a variety of levels.
To be considered for a post you will have:
• Very high proficiency in English with a first degree and recognised TEFL- I Qualification i.e. CELTA or equivalent.
• Extensive adult and secondary teaching experience (age groups 8-12 and 13-17)
• Strong customer service and good team-working skills.
There is an excellent package on offer for the right candidate, including flights from the UK to Penang (or equivalent), baggage allowance, settling in allowance, medical insurance and home leave flights. Salary ranges from 7,695 MYR-9,996 MYR per month. Starting point on scale is dependent upon your qualifications and experience.
