KICC English School, located in the spectacular rural region of Kumano, in the Wakayama prefecture south of Osaka, is seeking a native speaker of English for a full time position beginning in the middle of July 2008. The contract length will be one year, renewable based upon the agreement of both parties.

About our School
Our school has four branches in the Kumano region, allowing you to travel short distances by train or bus along the Pacific coastline, famous for its natural beauty. We maintain a staff of four native English teachers, and a ready-made social circle here to help you adapt to and enjoy life in Japan. The teachers and English-speaking Japanese staff are also on-hand to assist you with any and all matters, for example:

    - Helping you adjust to your new home
- Questions about the Japanese language
- Class rhythm and dynamics

Visas
We will provide sponsorship so that you may obtain a working Visa or extend your existing working Visa.

Life in Shingu
Nestled between the mountains and where the Kumano River empties into the Pacific, Shingu is a hub of the Kumano region with easy access to explore the natural beauty of the area and for visiting historical sites, such as the mountains, waterfalls, and the world heritage landmark Kumano Kodouh. The best way to get around Shingu is by bicycle, and public transportation is available throughout the region in the form of JR (Japan Rail) trains, public and private buses, or taxis.

Working in Shingu
Starting salary: 230,000 yen per month. Teachers who fulfill the basic duties of the position will be moved up to 250,000 yen after a 3 month trial period. We wish to encourage and reward people on the team who maintain a cheerful, positive attitude, therefore every 6 months afterwards instructors will be eligible for raises based on a review of their achievements.

Schedule: There are 46 work weeks with 15 days paid holidays in the KICC school year. All positions have two days off per week (typically Saturday and Sunday) except in the case of special events, such as Christmas or Halloween.

Traveling: You will mainly use trains, and in a few cases the bus, to get around. The fares for both will be covered by the school.

Resources: Numerous teaching resources and materials are available to you.
There are weekly brain-storming meetings for teachers which can help you adjust to your new job fueling you with creative ideas. Our computers are running Windows XP and have broadband internet access which can be utilized to produce teaching materials, do research, etc.

Health Insurance: To your great benefit, our school provides national health insurance for you, which covers 70% of any medical & dental costs you may incur while working with us. After the first year in Japan, this is approximately a 20000 yen PER MONTH savings. Unlike our school, many schools in Japan do not offer health insurance to the teachers, leaving the teacher to pay for their insurance and medical expenses on their own.

Accommodations and Considerations
A spacious furnished accommodation will be provided for you by KICC. Compared to the option of cramped apartments in the city, one’s own home in the countryside is a welcome haven. Also to your great benefit, the key-money/deposits for these accomodations have already been paid for you by KICC.

(Cultural note: In Japan, moving in to a new house or apartment typically requires a deposit known as “key-money”. Key-money is often ten months worth of your rent paid in advance - only 66% to 80% of which will be refunded by the landlord upon leaving).

Hiring
Though not a requirement, special consideration will be given to teachers who already possess a background in education, especially those with prior experience teaching in Japan. Teachers are required to have basic computer skills (Word, Windows XP, Adobe products, etc.).

Please be sure to take health insurance and key-money/deposits into account when comparing salaries with other English schools. We will be straight and above the board with you and hope to find instructors that are likewise honest and cooperative in a work environment that requires both teamwork and self-motivation.

Applying
E-mail your resumes/CVs to 0807job@kiccworld.com and don’t forget:
YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ONLY AFTER THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE SUBMITTED:

    1. The completed questionnaire (below)
2. Your resume/CV including your date of birth.
3. Two recent photos.
