Assistance is provided to obtain your first year VISA and second year VISAS are paid for by the company.

You will have groups with 1 to 4 students. At times, companies contract closed groups only for the themselves and they choose to include up to 8 in a group. Under these circumstances, companies are aware that progress will be slower than with our recommended 4 students per group. Student age is between 18 to 60 years old averaging 30. You will be provided with material packets that should last you about 1 month per group. You will be trained during the first weeks and asked to observe other classes. Training is not paid. Teachers are expected to teach between 6 to 8 groups at a given time. Inter Act offers on-going training to those teachers with less experience or for those who wish to improve their teaching skills. Each group meets 3 times per week for sessions of 1.5 hrs. Groups are usually programmed on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule or a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday schedule. Pay is at 80 to 100 MXP per hour (depending on experience and results) and so for one session of 1.5 hrs, you will be paid 120 to 150 MXP. Payday is on the 5th and the 25th day of each month in local currency. You will be observed and feedback given to you when you have your meeting with your coordinator. 80% of our teaching staff is foreigners and the others are native Mexicans who have lived abroad for many years.

All teachers hired at Inter-Act must agree and accept the possible hours of 7 to 10 am and 6:30 to 9:30 pm from Monday to Friday and Saturday morning classes when needed.

Although this is general information, living in Mexico is quite a unique experience. As when travelling to any country, open-mindedness is always a plus in being able to adapt quicker and enjoy your time and work in Mexico. Currently, teachers working full-time at the school are paid $8,000 pesos each month (this is net of all deductions), plus rental assistance of $2,000 pesos each month (the school will help you to find accommodation). Based on current exchange rates, this is the equivalent of approx. $925 USD. The cost of living in Mexico is about 2/3 that of the US & Canada. ASE was founded in 1995. Looking at a map of Mexico, Los Mochis is located almost due east across the Sea of Cortez from the tip of Baja California. By car, Los Mochis is approximately 8 hours from the nearest U.S. border crossing, which is Nogales Arizona. The city is home to about 250,000 people with an additional 250,000 people living in the surrounding communities. Los Mochis in many ways has all the characteristics of a small town. The city is normally very quiet and in fact it seems nearly deserted from 1pm to 4pm every afternoon as most businesses close for lunch and “siesta time”.

The school is located in the mountainous town of Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, just over an hour from Mexico City and about 4 hours from the beaches of Veracruz. It is a clean, safe, mid-sized city with some 350,000 residents and all the amenities one needs to live a comfortable life. The city itself was a mining town founded nearly 500 years ago, and has a rich history. In fact, it is just 20 minutes from the hill top magical towns of Real del Monte and Huasca, where many teachers spend their weekend afternoons. A quick and easy trip into bustling Mexico City for the weekend is also a popular choice. The climate is temperate, never too hot nor terribly cold, and neither heat nor air conditioning is required. From Pachuca, one can travel by bus to the ancient Aztec pyramids in an hour, Cuernavaca or San Miguel de Allende in 5 hours, Guanajuato in 6 hours, and Guadalajara in 11 hours.

The school also has a rich history, founded nearly 90 years ago by the American Mining Company to provide blingual education to sons and daughters of mine employees. It became a private non profit some 60 years ago, when the mines stopped functioning. It now has some 900 students and is the only truly bilingual school in Hidalgo. With more than 40 foreign and 50 Mexican staff, a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1, nice facilities with lots of open area, and a convenient location, it is among the best schools in Pachuca. It is also one of 17 member schools of the Association of American Schools of Mexico. Class sizes are small, with no more than 24 students per class, and teachers teach approximately 22 contact hours per week. The work day runs from 7:45 to 3:15 and there are are rarely any weekend hours (perhaps only at gradutaion!).

We seek two teachers with at minimum one year of teaching experience abroad. We prefer teachers with a degree in education, though we will consider those with other educational backgrounds. All teachers must have a B.A. or B.S. from an accredited university and those who do not have a teaching certificate in their country or a B.Ed. will be asked to enroll in a local M.Ed., for which the school will provide significante financial support. This is part of our requirements towards attaining international accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which will hold its accreditation visit to the school in April 2009.

This is a full-time position and professors are required to be on campus 8 hours a day. Each professor teaches 3 fifty-minutes classes that meet 5 days a week. English is a required subject for our students who are studying various engineering majors. The majority of our students do not have previous experience with English, so the bulk of our teaching is at the Elementary and

This is a full-time position and professors are required to be on campus 8 hours a day. Each professor teaches 3 fifty-minutes classes that meet 5 days a week. English is a required subject for our students who are studying various engineering majors. The majority of our students do not have previous experience with English, so the bulk of our teaching is at the Elementary and
Pre-Intermediate levels.

Salary is approximately 10,000 to 12,000 pesos per month after taxes depending on qualifications. Those who stay a full year receive two annual bonuses of a month’s salary each. All teachers are registered in Mexico’s social security system, which includes basic health care, a pension fund, child care, and a housing plan. There are five weeks paid vacation a year, along with various national holidays.

All teachers contracts run from approximately August 13 to June 30. Working hours for teachers are from 7:45 am - 2:30 pm Monday to Friday. Teachers are responsible for two hours of tutoring after class each week, and to help out at special events, that can sometimes occur outside of regular school hours (ex. Christmas Festival). Recess yard duty is also the responsibility of the teachers, on a rotating basis with the Spanish Department. This occurs every other week. Colegio Aleman offers its foreign teachers the following: monthly salary of $9,039.68 Mexican pesos (after taxes) (subject to change.
