CUENCA, ECUADOR / CEDEI SCHOOL CEDEI
School is seeking native English speakers form its international teaching staff for the 2008-2009 academic year. CEDEI School is located in Cuenca, Ecuador. Cuenca is a small colonial city in the Andes Mountains.

SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
The educational philosophy of the school is based on the multiple intelligences of Howard Gardner: language, math and logic, spatial vision, kinesthetics, music, nature, and interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. CEDEI School teaches its students about the world, its cultures, traditions, festivals, foods, dress, and traditional stories with the intention of giving each child a sense of belonging to the human race.

SCHOOL STRUCTURE
Our school opened in September 2003. In the 2008 ñ 2009 school year, the school will include an early stimulation class (1- and 2-year-olds), preschool classrooms (3- and 4-year-olds), two ®primero de basica® classes (5- and 6- year olds, equivalent of kindergarten), a segundo de basica class (6- and 7- year olds, first grade), a ìtercero de b·sicaî (7- and 8-year-olds, second grade) , a ìcuarto de b·sicaî (8- and 9-year-olds, third grade), and a ìquinto de b·sicaî (9 and 10 year olds, fourth grade). One grade level is added each year. Each classroom has a Spanish-speaking Ecuadorian teacher and an English-speaking international teacher. The international teachers are expected to teach all content in English and speak to the children in English at all times. Children learn English from native speakers at the same time as they acquire their native language of Spanish. Each member of the international staff is responsible for teaching an extra subject area to other classes of the school. These extra areas are: computer science, art, corporal expression, science and library.

INTERNATIONAL TEAM PURPOSE
Besides being immersed in an English speaking environment, from a very young age, the children will be exposed to a variety of cultures. With the presence of international teachers of different religious, social, and educational backgrounds, our hope is that these children will experience a unique environment. In the future, our students will learn to constructively criticize and propose alternatives to political, social, economic, artistic, and cultural problems.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNATIONAL STAFF
We are currently seeking native English speakers to form our international staff for the 2008-2009 school year. We are seeking people with an education background and/or experience working with children ages 1-10. Spanish ability is helpful but is not required. The international teachers for this school year are asked to commit to working from August 2008 to end of July 2009, and work roughly from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The compensation will include free Spanish classes in the afternoon, free salsa dance classes, free internet access, and a monthly stipend of $296 for teachers of preschool and kindergarten, and $310 for teachers of first through fourth grade.

The American School of Pachuca, a private, co-ed, institution offering instruction in grades K-9, is now actively seeking 2 qualified, dynamic and enthusiastic teachers to join our faculty for academis year 2008-2009, with a start date of August 11, 2008.

The school is located in the mountainous town of Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, just over an hour from Mexico City and about 4 hours from the beaches of Veracruz. It is a clean, safe, mid-sized city with some 350,000 residents and all the amenities one needs to live a comfortable life. The city itself was a mining town founded nearly 500 years ago, and has a rich history. In fact, it is just 20 minutes from the hill top magical towns of Real del Monte and Huasca, where many teachers spend their weekend afternoons. A quick and easy trip into bustling Mexico City for the weekend is also a popular choice. The climate is temperate, never too hot nor terribly cold, and neither heat nor air conditioning is required. From Pachuca, one can travel by bus to the ancient Aztec pyramids in an hour, Cuernavaca or San Miguel de Allende in 5 hours, Guanajuato in 6 hours, and Guadalajara in 11 hours.

The school also has a rich history, founded nearly 90 years ago by the American Mining Company to provide blingual education to sons and daughters of mine employees. It became a private non profit some 60 years ago, when the mines stopped functioning. It now has some 900 students and is the only truly bilingual school in Hidalgo. With more than 40 foreign and 50 Mexican staff, a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1, nice facilities with lots of open area, and a convenient location, it is among the best schools in Pachuca. It is also one of 17 member schools of the Association of American Schools of Mexico. Class sizes are small, with no more than 24 students per class, and teachers teach approximately 22 contact hours per week. The work day runs from 7:45 to 3:15 and there are are rarely any weekend hours (perhaps only at gradutaion!).

We seek two teachers with at minimum one year of teaching experience abroad. We prefer teachers with a degree in education, though we will consider those with other educational backgrounds. All teachers must have a B.A. or B.S. from an accredited university and those who do not have a teaching certificate in their country or a B.Ed. will be asked to enroll in a local M.Ed., for which the school will provide significante financial support. This is part of our requirements towards attaining international accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which will hold its accreditation visit to the school in April 2009.

Salaries range from 10,000 to 15,000 pesos monthly, with free private housing and medical coverage provided. We also provide $600 in flight assitance, and a contract completion bonus of $1000 USD at the end of the academic year.

To apply, please send your resume, a cover letter, and the names of three references (or reference letters if possible) to Curt Crossley, International Hiring Coordinator, at teach.at.asp@gmail.com by June 30, 2008. Hiring will be done on a rolling basis, so early applicants will receive first consideration.

The TED (Turkish acronym for Turkish Education Association) Foundation Schools are among the most prestigious private schools in Turkey. At the behest of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (the founder of modern Turkey), the TED Foundation was formed early in the Turkish Republic’s history in order to provide a comprehensive and modern education to Turkish children in the English language. Since that time, TED schools have been synonomous with success and excellence. A successful applicant will therefore, in addition to having a valuable work and learning experience, have the priviledge of being able to put TED College on their resume.

Our particular TED College is located in Alanya, a small yet vibrant city on the Mediterranean coast. Despite its size, Alanya is surprisingly cosmopolitan, being both a major tourist destination and home to sizeable European expatriot communities. In addition to its cultural diversity and warm Turkish hospitality, Alanya’s popularity is due also to its natural and historical attractions. While Alanya may be best known for its sandy and warm Mediterranean beaches, immediately to the north of the city (and visible from the city) are the mighty Toros Mountains, which are snow-capped throughout much of the year. These mountains provide great opportunities for all sorts of activities, from world-class mountain sports and hiking expeditions to easy and fun trips to real working mountain villages for tea and Turkish pancakes. And, historically speaking, Alanya and its surrounding areas have been home to many ancient cultures, from the ancient Greeks and Romans to the Seljuks and Ottomans. Because of this, the ruins of many ancient cities are just a short trip away from downtown Alanya.

WE ARE SEEKING TEACHERS FOR THREE POSITIONS

1. NATIVE SPEAKERS of ENGLISH

We are seeking native speakers of English who are motivated, creative, and ready for a rewarding challenge to teach conversational English to grade school children for a two-month long summer course. In addition to being a native English speaker, it is also hoped that applicants will have some hobby, interest, or area of expertise which they will also be able to teach to the students. No knowledge of the Turkish language is required. Courses begin July 1st.

For inquiries and to send your resume, please email Mustafa at mgecit@tedalanya.k12.tr or call +90 505 581 7291 and ask for Mustafa GECIT, Chair, Foreign Language Department.

Summer Job Benefits
Our package includes the following:
–a competitive salary
–all housing expenses
–travel exepenses to Alanya, Turkey (including airline ticket)
–health care for the duration of the summer course
–visa costs
–free meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) on school days
–transportation to and from school
–state of the art teaching facilities
– plenty of assistance and professional support to help you both acclimate to your new work environment and to improve your overall teaching skills
–a nice and friendly work environment
–a prestigious work experience to put on resume

2. KINDERGARTEN and GRADE SCHOOL TEACHERS

We are seeking native English speakers who have experience teaching either kindergarten or grade school (first through fifth grade), or who have received a university degree in education. No TEFL or other type of certification is required. Additionally, no knowledge of the Turkish language is required. Successful applicants will sign a one-year-contract that will be effective September 1st, 2008.

For inquiries and to send your resume, please email Mustafa at mgecit@tedalanya.k12.tr or call +90 505 581 7291 and ask for Mustafa GECIT, Chair, Foreign Language Department.

3. NATIVE SPEAKERS of ENGLISH

We are seeking native speakers of English who are motivated, creative, and ready for a rewarding challenge. In order to be considered, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (in any area of study) and be certified to teach English as a foreign language; however, no previous teaching experience is necessary.

–travel expenses to Alanya, Turkey (including airline ticket)
–residence visa and work permit costs
–full health care (we will provide you with private health care until you recieve your work permission, after which time it will be state health care)
–social security payments after work permit is granted
–free high-quality lunches on school days

The American School Foundation of Chiapas A.C. is a growing bilingual school, striving to provide an excellent education to our 560 students. We are interested in filling Kindergarten and Elementary teaching positions with a one-year contract for the 2008/2009 school year.

We offer a rich educational program, structured upon well established curriculum guidelines from the American School System, as well as from those stated by the Mexican Ministry of Education as well as those from California, USA. We ensure a safe and thoughtful environment in which students are encouraged to grow as independent, respectful, and responsible learners. We value the ideologies of Guided Learning and teaching through Multiple Intelligences. At ASFC, we promote a cooperative and friendly work environment.

The school is situated in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the capital city of the beautiful state of Chiapas. Tuxtla is a small, yet bustling city, alive with the vivid colours and energy of México. Not far from the city are mountains, canyons, beaches, pyramids and the ocean, just waiting to be explored. Tuxtla Gutiérrez offers delightful sunny weather all year round, delicious culinary flavours, and a culture rich in history and tradition. Here you can combine the security of access to familiar amenities with the excitement of living abroad in a Spanish-speaking culture.

Requirements: We hire qualified teachers with English as their native language who hold Education degrees in Elementary or Early Childhood Education. They should be certified, creative, enthusiastic, experienced, flexible, qualified, thoughtful teachers who are native English speakers. We prefer that our teachers have at least one year experience. Intercultural and universal values are required for our teachers’ best performance and understanding, with the idea of avoiding any cultural shock.

Interviews by telephone, messenger and email. Send resume, photo, birth date and three references.

Best regards,

Colegio Aleman is seeking full time English teachers for Primary school to start immediately. Students in elementary school receive classes in Spelling and Vocabulary, Social Studies, Science, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Writing and Math, which are all taught in English. Students learn half the day in Spanish and half the day in English.

All teachers contracts run from approximately August 13 to June 30. Working hours for teachers are from 7:45 am – 2:30 pm Monday to Friday. Teachers are responsible for two hours of tutoring after class each week, and to help out at special events, that can sometimes occur outside of regular school hours (ex. Christmas Festival). Recess yard duty is also the responsibility of the teachers, on a rotating basis with the Spanish Department. This occurs every other week. We have two weeks of holidays at Christmas and Easter, plus several other Mexican holidays throughout the year.

Colegio Aleman offers its foreign teachers the following: monthly salary of $9,039.68 Mexican pesos (after taxes) (subject to change. This was the figure for 2005-2006 school year), accommodations/ housing and utilities, medical benefits, health care for Mexico only, $827 travel stipend (paid in US dollars at the end of the school year, June 2005), and a completion bonus ($3,000 for the full school year), ($1,172 Incentive bonus – arriving to school on time and not being absent) all to be paid in US dollars, at the end of your contract in June 2005. Teacher’s monthly base salary, as mentioned earlier is $9,039.68 Mexican pesos, after the deduction of taxes. This will be divided in half and paid every 15 days.

The ideal teacher should be energetic, innovative, articulate, flexible, committed, conscientious, adaptable, organized, honest, professional, caring, patient and competent. Interested teachers should work well with fellow colleagues and administration but also be capable of working diligently and effectively on their own. Colegio Aleman will consider applicants who are not certified teachers however we do strongly recommend that you have your teacher certification or relevant experience in the teaching profession.
