UTM is located in Huajuapan de Leon, a city of about 80,000 people in the northwest corner of the state of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico. Huajuapan is in a valley of a mountainous area at an elevation of about 5000 feet. It is a center for commerce for the surrounding countryside.
