WHO WE ARE: Founded in 1999, Leader Language Schools are English language institutes in central Taiwan. We teach the four skills of listening, reading, speaking, and writing to students, ages 4-18 as well as adult tutorials. We have had considerable success in preparing students for the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT), which is recognized by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan.

WHERE WE ARE: Two of our branches are in Changhua, a mid-sized city in west central Taiwan- (only a 20-minute train ride from Taiwan’s 3rd largest city called Taicheng). Changhua is famous for having one of the largest free-standing statues of Buddha in Southeast Asia. Another branch is in Yuanlin, the largest “town” (by definition) in Taiwan, near Changhua.

WHO WE SEEK: We employ North American English instructors with four-year degrees in ANY field. Experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring is preferred.

WHAT TEACHERS DO: Teachers have a mix of group classes and tutorials from different ages and levels. Teachers are not teaching the same age group, day-in day-out. Each class has at least one native speaker teacher and one Taiwanese teacher of English. These two teachers are not in the class at the same time, but coordinate classes together.

WHAT LEADER OFFERS:

While Changhua is a mid-sized city, it has a MUCH lower cost of living than other larger cities such as Taipei. We have two work options depending on teachers’ preferences.

*Five-day-a-week schedule: The starting hourly pay is $NT610-$640 (based on experience)/teaching hr. & a guaranteed MINIMUM of 20 teaching hrs./wk. On this schedule with an average of 25 teaching hours per week, a teacher would receive approx. $NT61,000 per month. (Exchange rate= about $NT32=1USD). There are MANY of opportunities for extra hours/pay and yearly INCREASES.

* Six-day-a-week schedule, approx. 4 to 5 teaching hours per day: For a total 29 teaching hrs. per wk. a teacher can expect to make over $NT70,000/month. (To get a MAXIMUM number of hours, teacher can accept classes at separate branches which are approx. 20 min. from the main branch by bus or motorcycle).

Note: Teachers come in one hour before their first class to look over their pre-prepared lesson plans.

HOURS: The schools is open Mon. through Sat. 1:30-10:10pm however, teachers come in depending on the time of their first class of the day and conclude after their last class. Mon. through Fri., Tues. -Sat., Or a six-day option.

-Guidance in filing and reclaiming government taxes. Income taxes are 20% for the first 182 days in Taiwan, but then recalculated at 6-13% based on annual earnings and you are eligible for a REBATE of the difference.
