Sithammarat Suksa School, a 107 year old private school in Nakon Si Thammarat, Thailand, is looking for a responsible, motivated teacher to join our Kindergarten English Program Staff. ***The semester is opening May 12, 2008 and the position is to be filled immediately. -Now in its third year, the Kindergarten English Program has had a boom in enrollment and needs quality caring, professional, flexible, motivated teachers. Facilities are excellent, in a new building with air conditioning, internet in classrooms, many resources available. Each Kindergarten English Program class has one Thai and one Foreign homeroom teacher in the classroom with the children through the day. Both teachers should work together to support each other in their student’s education, so good communication skills are a must. Teachers must commit to a contract covering the length of the school year to build bonds with their students.
Sithammarat Suksa is a well-established school with over 5000 students Kindergarten through Grade 12. The English Program is now in its 8th year, and continuing to grow and improve in size, quality and reputation. We currently have a foreign staff of more than 20 from the US, Canada, South Africa, Australia and the UK (sorry, citizens of a non-native English speaking country need not apply regardless of English proficiency). Teachers from a native-English-speaking country with a Bachelors degree minimum are welcome to apply, but preference is given to TEFL/TESOL certification, foreign teaching experience, and home-country-licensed teachers.
Teachers are expected to carry out their duties to their best ability at all times. This includes making lesson plans, recording scores and monitoring student progress, as well as working productively as a member of our educational team.
Salary begins at 30,000 Thai baht per month, negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Sithammarat Suksa will refund the cost of incoming airfare after 90 days work. For teachers already in Thailand (a plus) an addition stipend will be added in lieu of the airfare. Other benefits include (but are not limited to): health coverage, a yearly contract completion bonus and raise, Thai lunch every school day, more than 6 weeks paid holidays per year (up to 12 weeks for renewing teachers), modern air-conditioned classrooms and offices, internet at your desk (if you bring a laptop), all classes under 30 students, a friendly and supportive environment, beautiful, tree-lined campus adjacent to a large city park.
Our city, Nakon Si Thammarat, is an ancient trading capital with most modern western conveniences: internet, satellite TV, pizza delivery. Renting a house can be done for about 10% of monthly salary, leaving plenty to experience local culture in our medium-sized, untouristed Thai city. Both beaches and mountains are within a 30 minute drive, and the famous tourist meccas of Samui, Ko Pa Ngan, Krabi and Phuket are a short drive away.
