Teach in Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Perlis
SMR HR Group has been privileged to be chosen to manage part of a National Teacher Training initiative by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. This project started in January 2011 and SMR were allocated positions in five states of Selangor, Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis.
Since January Mentors and Team Coordinators have been assigned to clusters scattered around these states. Each person has been allocated five schools where they are responsible for the ‘hands on’ training of teachers in years 1 to 3 in all of the schools. This is achieved by them team teaching, giving demonstration classes and conducting workshops for the teachers in the schools. The aim of this direct involvement is to help teachers utilize communicative methodology in their classrooms and to assist them with their own Professional Language Development.
Mentors are given a relative free hand to conduct specific needs analysis with the schools and then directly address issues in their clusters so that their help is both specific and relevant to the needs of the teachers we are serving.
This is a long term project which is contracted to finish in September 2013 and whilst we would have ideally preferred that all mentors who started in January would complete the full course of the contract, it has been inevitable that some have had to leave for various reasons such as family concerns, sickness and four who were dismissed because of unsuitability.
We have recently had a number of participants that have left the project and so have immediate vacancies for anyone who has the relevant qualifications, experience and pass interview. Requirements are:
1. Academic: A first degree + ESL Teaching qualifications (CELTA or equivalent)
(Candidates with DELTA or MA in related subject will have an advantage)
2. Experience: At least three years teaching experience of which most should be in teaching young children.
(Candidates with extended experience in Primary Education will have an advantage)

Please bear in mind this project is related to the training of teachers who are teaching lower primary school children (ages 7 to 9) and so any relevant experience at this level should be highlighted and given in greater detail.
IMPORTANT: Please also state your earliest date of availability. In view of the fact that some mentors have to leave their positions earlier than the contract I want to keep a bank of applicants on hold in case a vacancy occurs and so a date of earliest availability will be extremely useful. Naturally I cannot guarantee that a place will be available and should you find alternative employment in the meantime then I would fully understand.
Successful applicants will be given a Skype address to contact for an interview and those selected for the post will receive:
1. RM7,000 to RM9,000 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
2. An immediate settling in allowance of RM4,000
3. Immediate single fare refund for applicant and refund for spouse on completion of contract.
4. Monthly Housing Allowance RM800 + Petrol Allowance RM350 + Stationery Allowance RM50
5. Comprehensive medical insurance (does not include dentistry, spectacles, pregnancy or psychiatric)
6. Use of Company car, laptop, hand phone (usage allowance RM150) and internet connector
7. Hotel Accommodation for up to 10 days whilst locating housing
8. 30 days annual leave
